Burgas Municipality will co-finance the complete reconstruction of the Burgas – Dolno Ezerovo road, to carry out the repair of the section as quickly as possible. The municipal councilors just approved Mayor Dimitar Nikolov's report.
His proposal was added extraordinarily to the agenda of the local parliament, as the Road Infrastructure Agency is currently adopting its investment program. “We are one of the few cities in the country that are ready to invest their own funds in foreign infrastructure,” the mayor clarified, adding that Burgas is entering heavy competition with the other municipalities in the country, which are waiting for the API to repair roads on their territory.
The section is part of the republican road network and is in extremely poor condition. Although the repair is a commitment of the state, Burgas Municipality prepared the technical project at its own expense and donated it to the API. The project envisages the construction of two road connections, a bicycle lane and two local streets, which will ease traffic and make the movement safer overall.
“In the beginning, the API wanted the road to be only two lanes with an enlarged gauge of the lanes. They claimed that the traffic did not suggest more lanes. We did not agree, we attracted specialists and did a new survey. We convinced them that the route needed to be with 4 lanes. There will be two locals to ensure access to the companies in the area during the repair,” commented Mayor Dimitar Nikolov during the debates.
After the repair, the section will naturally continue the widened and repaired Odryn street. This will ensure the connection between the city territory and the industrial zones on the territory of Burgas.
