With a ritual to honor the feat and self-sacrifice of our ancestors, the military glory of the Bulgarian army and the fate of the Thracian refugees, Burgas Municipality will celebrate Thrace Day – March 26.

On this day, 113 years have passed since the capture of the Adrianople Fortress by the Bulgarian army during the Balkan War (1912–1913). Thanks to its strong fighting spirit and remarkable military tactics, the Bulgarian army created a real miracle, shattering the belief among military strategists that the fortress was impregnable.

On March 26, we also pay tribute to the Thracian refugees, who endured severe suffering after being expelled from their native places and seeking salvation within the borders of Bulgaria.

On the occasion of these historical events, on March 26, 2026 (Thursday) at 11:00 a.m., in front of the monument of the 24th Black Sea Infantry Regiment, located in front of the Military Club in Burgas, a civic ritual of laying wreaths and flowers will take place.
