The outgoing Minister of Education and Science, Krasimir Valchev, commented on the current situation in the education system regarding the flu morbidity and the upcoming school plans. He stated that an extension of the mid-term vacation is not planned, despite the increased morbidity. Currently, only three regions have switched to distance learning.

Valchev emphasized that the decisions to switch to online learning will be made individually for each region. He noted that the morbidity is typical for the end of January, but the situation is being closely monitored.

In addition, the minister also discussed financial issues related to national programs for construction and renovation in education. The focus is on the program for gyms and sports fields, where a large amount of funds have been provided. Nearly 165 gyms are under construction or renovation, and 225 sports fields are new. Valchev expressed hope for future improvement of the education budget.

Other programs are aimed at the renovation of student dormitories and the construction of schools and kindergartens to transition to a one-shift mode of education.
