The electronic submission of documents for participation in the first round of high school admissions after 7th grade has already concluded, and as of July 13, the procedure is entering its crucial phase – awaiting results and preparing for enrollment. This year, the admission process is again conducted entirely online through the Ministry of Education and Science's system, which firmly establishes the electronic model as the standard.

According to the approved schedule, applications for participation in the first stage of the 2026/2027 school year admissions were submitted from July 8 to July 10 exclusively electronically. Students and their parents could fill out and submit their preferences via the internet from a home computer or mobile device, as well as with the help of designated "hub schools" and the schools where the seventh-graders completed their primary education.

The Ministry of Education and Science's electronic platform allowed for the automatic loading of results from the national external assessments and the certificate of primary education. Parents and children arranged their desired specialized and vocational classes in a single application by region, which replaced the old paper forms and the need to visit multiple schools.

As of today, July 13, the application period for the first round has closed, and the system no longer allows for new applications or corrections. The next important step for families is to monitor the announcement of the ranking results in the official schedule of the Ministry of Education and Science and the regional departments of education.

After the results are released, accepted students will have a few days to enroll in their respective high school or submit an application for participation in the second round if they wish to improve their result. Those who do not enroll within the specified deadline lose their spot, and the vacancies are redistributed during the next stage.

According to information from regional departments of education, interest in the most sought-after high schools in Sofia and large cities remains high. In the capital, for example, students applied for over 200 specialized and over 200 vocational classes, with a traditionally high minimum score expected for leading language, mathematics, and science-mathematics schools.

The admission score is formed based on the results of the national external assessments in Bulgarian language and literature and mathematics, as well as the grades from the primary education certificate, according to the formula determined by the Ministry of Education and Science. Consulting centers and school teams remind students that in the case of a lower score, it is important to have filled in a sufficient number of classes in the application to increase the chance of being admitted.

The Ministry of Education and Science notes that in recent years, the electronic system has significantly reduced the risk of technical errors and has facilitated both families and administration. The same platform is expected to be used for the second, third, and possibly fourth rounds, with all deadlines outlined in the official schedule for admission activities after 7th grade.

Parents and students are urged to carefully monitor the announcements of the Ministry of Education and Science and the regional departments of education over the coming days so as not to miss the deadlines for enrollment or applying for the next stage of the ranking.
