Illegal water sources discovered in the Baba Alino area
Experts from the Black Sea Basin Directorate conducted an immediate inspection following reports of illegal water abstraction in the Baba Alino area near Varna. The actions were prompted by suspicions of unauthorized use of water for domestic purposes.
Two illegal facilities were identified that do not appear in the Water Act registers.
The inspection revealed that:
- One facility is located in a recessed shaft with a metal cover, connected to a pipe network.
- The second facility is currently subject to further analysis by specialists.
- The water sources are located in the vicinity of sites where violations of construction legislation have already been established.
At present, Ministry of Environment and Water officials are continuing their work, having also discovered water metering devices serving adjacent buildings. Strict administrative measures are expected to be imposed in accordance with current regulations after the inspection is finalized.
