Uncertified "Therapist" Defrauded Dozens of Patients with False Healing Practices

A large-scale fraud involving illegal medical activity by a 56-year-old man who performed rehabilitation procedures in various Bulgarian cities without qualifications has been uncovered.

Another criminal scheme in the healthcare system was uncovered by law enforcement in Plovdiv. The Regional Health Inspection filed an official report to the "Economic Police" department regarding suspicious therapeutic activities performed by an unqualified practitioner.

The investigation found that a 56-year-old man residing in Varna was systematically performing illegal medical interventions. Through the social platform Facebook, he presented himself as a qualified physiotherapist, manipulating the trust of sick people from different regions of Bulgaria.

The detained individual had no medical education, but nevertheless offered comprehensive therapeutic services. His "treatment" methods included rehabilitation techniques and alternative approaches targeting patients with serious diseases, injuries, and post-operative conditions.

The final intervention by the authorities came during his next illegal procedure in a rented premises in Plovdiv. The perpetrator was immediately detained for 24 hours and a pre-trial proceedings were initiated under the direct supervision of the Plovdiv District Prosecutor's Office.

Investigators have evidence that such unlawful activity is not an isolated incident. Multiple administrative acts from various regional health inspections have been documented, confirming the systematic nature of the fraudulent practice.
