The Municipality of Nessebar tirelessly works to establish the region as a leading tourist destination, directing its efforts towards both the domestic and international tourism markets.
With the onset of the summer season, advertising materials presenting Nessebar as a key part of the "South Black Sea" tourist destination found their place in the pages of the Turkish newspaper Milliyet – an influential publication that has a special tourism section. The magazine "The Summer Breeze of Milliyet" – printed in an impressive 100,000 copies – was entirely dedicated to summer vacation. It included articles, photographs, and advertising content that presented the South Black Sea and Nessebar as an attractive place for cultural and sea tourism. Milliyet ranks among the most respected publications in Turkey, with its distribution covering over 12,000 retail outlets in all 81 provinces of the country. In addition, the publication has a strong digital presence through Milliyet.com.tr and the mobile application Milliyet e-gazete, ensuring a wide reach among potential tourists.
Furthermore, Nessebar and the "South Black Sea" destination gained visibility in the Austrian tourism market, thanks to a partnership with Austrian Airlines and "Fraport Twin Star Airport Management" AD. By distributing a promotional video clip, the region was promoted among traveling Austrian tourists, with the aim of attracting interest in the offered recreational opportunities.
As part of the strategy for year-round attraction of tourists, the Municipality of Nessebar installed an advertising panel at the arrivals terminal at Burgas Airport, which serves as one of the main entry points for foreign guests to the South Black Sea. It is clear that this initiative aims to create a first impression and attract the attention of newcomers.
These advertising activities are also carried out in close cooperation with other municipalities from the South Black Sea. In 2024, the Municipality of Nessebar successfully completed two key marketing projects. The first, entitled "Promotion of the Black Sea Destination Burgas and Nessebar in tourism markets", was carried out jointly with the Municipality of Burgas, the Municipality of Tsarevo, "Fraport Twin Star Airport Management" AD, and tour operator "Balkan Holidays Services" EOOD. The second project, entitled "Wonderful Nessebar – Your Place for Vacation Among Ancient Landmarks", again involved cooperation with "Fraport Twin Star Airport Management" AD and tour operator Corendon International Travel B.V.
"Nessebar is a unique city with an ancient history and a huge cultural heritage, attracting hundreds of thousands of tourists every year. Our constant goal is to reach more people from the ever-growing international and domestic tourism community and to consolidate the positions of the South Black Sea as a preferred destination for vacation and cultural tourism," said the mayor of Nessebar, Nikolay Dimitrov.
