The Nesebar public paid tribute to the Apostle of Freedom - Vasil Levski.
The ceremony on the occasion of the 153rd anniversary of the death of Bulgaria's greatest son took place in front of the hero's monument in the South Park. In a sign of gratitude, representatives of the municipal administration, educational and community center figures, members of organizations and associations, dozens of citizens and students bowed their heads and observed a minute of silence, recalling Levski's immortal deed, his unreserved dedication to the national liberation cause, high moral standards, the purity of his ideals and his unwavering faith in freedom, which continue to be a moral guide for Bulgarian society.
Students from SU "Lyuben Karavelov" took part in the memorial event, performing poems and songs dedicated to the Apostle.
At the end of the ceremony, wreaths and flowers as a sign of reverence for the personality that has become a national shrine and symbol of self-sacrifice in the name of the Fatherland were presented on behalf of Nesebar Municipality, Mayor Nikolay Dimitrov, SU "Lyuben Karavelov" and others.
Earlier in the morning, the anniversary was marked with a memorial service in the church "St. Uspenie Bogorodichno", where students performed a short memorial concert, expressing their gratitude for Levski's deed and for everything he bequeathed to the Bulgarian people.
