A decisive moment for parliamentary activity
The National Assembly is preparing for one of the most important steps at the beginning of its work – the structuring of the standing parliamentary committees. The proposal, submitted by Petar Vitanov and the "Progressive Bulgaria" Parliamentary Group, has officially entered the deputies' agenda following a meeting of the Council of Chairpersons.
The committees are the "engine" of the legislative process, where the details of every draft law are debated before it reaches the plenary hall.
According to the rules of procedure for the 52nd Parliament, the formation of a total of 24 standing committees is envisaged. They are key to the effective consideration of:
- Budgetary issues and financial framework
- Legislative initiatives in various sectors
- Control over the executive power
Deputies are expected to vote on the composition of the committees in the coming sessions, which will unblock the work on specific bills and the state's priorities.
