"Irrigation Systems" EAD has started the irrigation season for 2026, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food (MAF) announced.
The reservoirs managed by the company on the territory of the country have sufficient volume for the smooth running of the season and are currently filled to about 43 percent. Water is released through all irrigation canals in the areas where applications for delivery have been submitted. The company's facilities are in good technical condition, and teams are constantly monitoring their water levels.
During the last irrigation season, water for irrigation was delivered to 348,000 decares, and it is expected that the areas will increase this year. The MAF reminds that entry and bathing in reservoirs, equalizers, irrigation and drainage canals and other hydro-meliorative and hydro-technical facilities are prohibited.
BTA recalls that the price of the service for the delivery of water for irrigation for the irrigation season 2025 and the irrigation season 2026 was approved by the former Minister of Agriculture and Food, Dr. Georgi Tahov. The price of gravity-delivered water is BGN 0.025/cu. m, and for pump-delivered water - BGN 0.038/cu. m.
