NRA and CPC: Sanctions of over 1 million euros for unjustified price increases after the euro introduction

The NRA (National Revenue Agency) and the CPC (Commission for Consumer Protection) imposed sanctions of 1.07 million euros for violations related to unjustified price increases after the introduction of the euro. Inspections will continue until August 8. Over 16,000 complaints and 17,000 phone consultations regarding pricing violations.

The National Revenue Agency (NRA) and the Commission for Consumer Protection (CPC) imposed sanctions totaling 1.07 million euros for unjustified price increases related to the introduction of the euro. The control will continue until August 8, when the Law on the Introduction of the Euro in Bulgaria expires.

Since the beginning of the year, 1112 violations have been established. For 414 of them, penal decrees have been issued, announced Evgeni Nankov, Deputy Executive Director of the NRA.

The inspections cover various establishments, including grocery stores and establishments trading in lamb meat. The CPC conducts inspections in three main areas: an online platform for tracking prices, on-site inspections by inspectors, and inspections based on complaints received.

The CPC has carried out nearly 9,000 inspections, and 863 acts have been drawn up. Through the online platform for price monitoring, over 8,000 products have been analyzed, with unjustified price increases found in 561 of them.

An increase in the number of products with increased prices to nearly 4,000. Over 16,000 complaints have been filed. The most significant increases are observed in services with daily consumption, such as public parking, fitness services, and transportation services.
