The number of fatalities in road traffic accidents (RTAs) from the beginning of the year to now is 22 fewer compared to the same period last year, said Lachezar Bliznakov from the Road Police. He added that the number of injured in serious traffic incidents from the beginning of 2025 to now is 10 percent less compared to the same period in 2024.

From the beginning of this year to today, the number of cases of violations related to the use of alcohol or narcotic substances is 150, said Bliznakov.

Miroslav Tsenov, director of the Situation Center and Traffic Management, said that with the installation of sensors to detect overloaded trucks, violations have decreased 10 times. Violation documents are served automatically, and we manage to cover foreign violators as well, he added. If a truck passes through the republican network illegally, the Ministry of Interior authorities will stop it or it will be detected later through the cameras placed along the road network, said Tsenov.
