On March 1, 2026, Foreign Minister Nadezhda Neynski participated in an extraordinary video conference meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council, dedicated to the situation in the Middle East.
The ministers expressed concern about the escalation and confirmed support for the partners from the Gulf. The need to comply with international law and return to negotiations was emphasized, as well as the fulfillment by Iran of its obligations under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.
In her statement, Neynski emphasized the new situation with potential consequences for the region and Europe. Emphasis was placed on the need to persuade Iran to return to negotiations, terminate its nuclear program, and stop supporting the Russian aggression against Ukraine. Neynski supported a joint meeting of EU ministers and the Gulf Cooperation Council, with the security of citizens remaining a priority.
