More than 70 people had a free AI eye check in Nessebar, the town council said. Many more wanted one than the mobile clinic could see in a single day.
The clinic was open on Wednesday, 28 October, from 10am to 4pm. It saw people over 50 without an appointment, as well as patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. The checks took place at the Artium Centre for Culture and Education, with help from Nessebar council.

The screening is part of the national campaign "Check Your Eyes in Time". Special equipment photographs the eyes, and AI software analyses the images. An eye doctor went over the results with each person on the spot.
Everyone got advice on what to do next. People were told to see their family doctor, who will decide whether they need to see an eye specialist. Most of the changes found were linked to age.
The council says this shows how much regular check-ups matter, especially after the age of 50. It backs efforts to prevent disease, raise health awareness and give people access to modern preventive services. Such campaigns, it says, help people keep track of their health in good time and get advice from doctors.
The campaign is run by the Bulgarian Cluster for Digital Solutions and Innovation in Healthcare (DHI Cluster). Its partners are the Bulgarian Society of Paediatric Ophthalmology, Neuro-ophthalmology and Ophthalmic Genetics, and the Bulgarian Association of Pharmacoeconomics (ISPOR BG Chapter). The Ministry of Health and Roche Bulgaria support the campaign.
