Alarming statistics: Nearly 5000 fires in a week
Over the past week, the 112 emergency line registered a significant increase in fire reports – a total of 4,828, which is a 9.7% increase compared to the previous period. The total number of calls for the period August 7–14, 2026, reached 46,349.
Key highlights from the work of 112:
- Emergency medical services: Over 15,000 calls were directed to emergency medical teams, including 7 aerial missions.
- Road safety: 2,316 reports of accidents and 96 of reckless driving were registered.
- Criminal activities: Over 14,000 reports related to crimes against persons and property were processed.
Successful rescue operation: Thanks to the eCall system and automatically transmitted GPS coordinates, teams located a car that had crashed into a ravine near Chepelare and rescued two young people.
The system also continues to be key for cross-border cooperation, as 9 international reports of incidents in neighboring countries were processed during the week.
