Inspectors from the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) in Burgas, Sunny Beach, Ravda and Sveti Vlas discovered over 3.3 tons of food without documents, with expired shelf life or stored in violation of the law. These foods will be destroyed, the Agency reports.

A significant part of these quantities are imitation cheeses (2 tons) from an enterprise for the production of imitation dairy products in Burgas. The packaging has markings of another manufacturer, which is a violation. The activity of the site has been stopped due to numerous violations, including non-compliance with the building fund (cracked floor, holes, dirt) and the presence of unusable equipment.

During inspections of the “Krasnodar” market in Burgas, 70 kg of mussels and fish (stored improperly) and 60 kg of meat and dairy products (without labels and documents) were banned and directed for destruction.

The producer and traders will be issued with acts and issued prescriptions.

In the resort complexes in Burgas, inspectors from the Regional Directorate of Food Safety - Stara Zagora closed five illegal sites (shops, warehouse and restaurants). Over 1.2 tons of animal foods without documents, with expired shelf life or without labels were destroyed.

The Agency conducts so-called cross-checks to avoid local dependencies.

Since the beginning of the "Clean Food" campaign, 27 sites have been closed and over 260 tons of potentially dangerous food have been stopped. Almost 80% of them are products of animal origin.
