The Ministry of Interior (MIA) marks International Remembrance Day for fallen law enforcement officers by laying wreaths at the monument to fallen police officers in the capital. This was announced by the MIA press center.
Minister of Interior Emil Dechev, representatives of the MIA leadership and the National Bureau of Interpol, will lay a wreath at the monument at 10:00 AM. Regional police departments across the country will begin work with a minute of silence and flashing police lights in memory of their colleagues who lost their lives in the line of duty.
The MIA recalls that the campaign marking the memorial day this year is held under the motto “RFO - Remembering Fallen Officers“. As a member state of Interpol, Bulgaria, together with over 100 countries, expresses solidarity with the global police community and supports the initiatives organized and coordinated by the international organization.
On the eve of the memorial day, the building of the National Palace of Culture (NDK) in Sofia was illuminated in blue, with the support of the Ministry of Culture.
On March 7, law enforcement agencies and police forces around the world will gather to honor the service and calling of police officers everywhere and pay tribute to the women and men who lost their lives in the line of duty, the Interpol website states.
