Over the past 24 hours, a total of 26 drivers were found behind the wheel after consuming alcohol – 12 of them drove after consuming alcohol between 0.5 and 1.2 per mille, and another 14 – with over 1.2 per mille; four refused testing. Nine people were caught driving under the influence of narcotic substances or their analogues, the Ministry of Interior announced.
The drivers were checked during a specialized police operation for compliance with the Road Traffic Act, and so far, 22,063 drivers and passengers have been checked. 18,573 motor vehicles have been inspected.
The focus of the operation is to prevent driving by drivers who have consumed alcohol, narcotic substances or their analogues, as well as driving vehicles by unqualified drivers.
4677 penalty tickets and 415 acts were issued for established administrative violations.
One person died and ten were injured in accidents in the country during the past 24 hours.
