Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Receive €1.75 Million to Support Bulgarian Communities Abroad (Albania, Serbia, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Ukraine, Moldova)

The Council of Ministers approved funding for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for 2026, up to €1.75 million, for projects supporting Bulgarian communities in Albania, Serbia, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Ukraine, and Moldova. The goal is to support the preservation of Bulgarian identity and the integration of these communities into Bulgarian society.

The Council of Ministers approved funding for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) for 2026 in the amount of up to 1,750,000 euros for projects in support of the Bulgarian communities from the Republic of Albania, the Republic of Serbia, the Republic of Kosovo and citizens of the Republic of North Macedonia with Bulgarian self-awareness, Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova, the government press service announced.

The financial support is part of the commitment of the Bulgarian state to the Bulgarian historical communities and citizens abroad as bearers of significant intellectual, financial-economic and demographic potential.

Supporting projects of the organizations of the Bulgarian communities from Albania, Serbia, Kosovo, Ukraine and Moldova and citizens of the Republic of North Macedonia with Bulgarian self-awareness provides new opportunities and mechanisms for the inclusion and involvement of Bulgarian citizens abroad in the state and socio-political life in Bulgaria, as well as for the preservation of the Bulgarian ethnocultural space and the establishment of a positive image of the Republic of Bulgaria.

MPs are discussing today on second reading the changes to the so-called extension law for the budget. Yesterday the amendments were approved on second reading by the relevant parliamentary committee on budget and finance.
