A large-scale infrastructure project will transform the fishing port in Tsarevo thanks to significant European funding. The approved plan includes modernization of existing facilities, which will improve conditions for local fishermen and create a modern working environment.
The project "Improvement and Modernization of Michurin Port" was developed at the beginning of 2025 and includes large-scale construction activities. Among the main interventions are laying new concrete surfaces, precise leveling, and building a specialized hall for technical maintenance of fishing vessels.
Mayor Marin Kirov emphasized the strategic importance of the investment: "This is the first step towards comprehensive renovation of port infrastructure. In parallel with the current project, we are preparing an extension for public transport and working on documentation for a new port."
Funding of over 3 million leva without VAT is provided under the Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Program 2021-2027. The specific procedure BG14MFPR001-1.004 is aimed at improving fishing infrastructure and facilitating unloading and storage.
Among the innovative elements of the project are a modular fuel station, a specialized storage for fishing equipment, and comprehensive renovation of existing facilities. Additionally, the municipality plans to expand the project with boat moorings in Lozenets and Ahtopol.
Parallel to the project in Tsarevo, Pomorie Municipality also won funding for modernization of the local fishing port and boat moorage in Aheloy, which demonstrates a consistent regional approach to coastal infrastructure development.
