The Kardzhali Hospital is acquiring a modern helicopter landing pad that will revolutionize emergency medical assistance in Southern Bulgaria. The facility, whose construction started last year, will be officially opened today by Health Minister Silvy Kirilov.

The new infrastructure will allow full use of air ambulances, which are critically important for rapid medical evacuation in hard-to-reach mountainous and remote areas. The Ministry of Health currently has three medical helicopters and plans to significantly expand this capacity.

The strategic plan provides for the acquisition of a total of five air ambulances by the end of the current year. Additionally, by 2026, three more helicopters are expected to arrive, which will fully strengthen the emergency air medical assistance system.

The landing pad in Kardzhali is part of a large-scale national project to improve access to emergency medical assistance. The official opening is scheduled for 10:30, with Minister Kirilov personally cutting the ribbon, symbolizing the beginning of a new stage in healthcare.

Experts emphasize that such facilities are of exceptional importance for regions with mountainous terrain and dispersed population, where traditional ambulance transportation encounters serious difficulties.
