Over 2000 liters of ethyl alcohol were seized by Varna customs officials from a local rakia (Bulgarian brandy) distillery.
The operation was conducted on the last day of January, when officials from the "Customs Intelligence and Investigation" department discovered numerous plastic canisters and containers of rakia in the small distillation facility.
A total of 2081.5 liters of ethyl alcohol with the characteristics of rakia were found, for which the person using the property did not present documents for the payment of the due excise duty and the status of the goods.
The ethyl alcohol was seized, and a pre-trial investigation has been initiated. The Varna customs reminded that the increased control against unregulated production and trade of alcohol is in protection of both consumers and the correct small rakia producers.
