With its decision, the Council of Ministers adopted a Strategy for the organization of the primary offering of government securities aimed at individual investors in Bulgaria. This was announced at a briefing by the outgoing Minister of Finance, Temenuzhka Petkova, after the end of the last government meeting of the year.

Petkova explained that this concerns non-professional investors - natural and legal persons. According to her, in order to reach this decision of the Council of Ministers and the adoption of this strategy by order of the Prime Minister, an interdepartmental working group was created with experts from the Ministry of Finance, the Bulgarian National Bank and the Financial Supervision Commission.

The task of this working group was to study international experience in this direction and to develop a strategy and concept that would enable non-professional investors to participate directly in the market of government securities in Bulgaria, explained the Minister of Finance.

She emphasized that this is a very important step that will enable all citizens who wish to participate in the government securities market. In this way, according to Petkova, the capital market in Bulgaria will also develop, which is one of the main priorities of the European Union within the framework of the financial sphere. With today's decision to create this strategy and concept, an extremely good opportunity is opening up for citizens to participate in the market, as well as to increase their financial literacy, the outgoing Minister of Finance also pointed out.
