The caretaker Minister of Agriculture and Food, Ivan Hristanov, announced to journalists that he has a confirmed meeting with the retail chains, at which they will discuss not only the “Easter Basket” initiative, but also their willingness to absorb some of the "price fluctuations".
According to Hristanov, all the analyses they have done so far show that there are no prerequisites for a large price increase, so their forecasts are for stable prices of essential goods.
When asked if there is a possibility for farmers to receive "Ukrainian"-type aid in the context of the crisis in the Middle East, Minister Hristanov recalled that the "Ukrainian aid" is a design of the collective effort of the European Union (EU). According to him, it has been proven that this works relatively slowly, but they insist on it happening. There is also agreement from the Visegrád Four plus Romania and Bulgaria. We must realize that this will not be a solution from today to tomorrow, Hristanov noted.
