To ensure an adequate supply of fuel for Bulgarian citizens, the necessary measures are being taken in each of the competencies, Justice Minister Georgi Georgiev said at a briefing in the Council of Ministers. His words come against the backdrop of increased public attention regarding the country's energy security, especially after the sanctions imposed by the United States of America.

"Playing with this topic by political opponents is not statesmanlike behavior, there is no need to sow fear in people", Minister Georgiev emphasized. His statement clearly shows an aspiration to calm public tension and an appeal for responsibility from the political forces.

The Minister of Justice took part in today's working meeting, convened by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov. The main topic of discussion was the measures that should be taken after the US sanctions against "Lukoil". The meeting is further evidence of the increased control and the steps taken by the government in response to the new circumstances.

The responsible institutions reported on the current state of affairs, emphasizing the fact that the refinery in Burgas is a strategic object of key importance for national security. This circumstance necessitates the taking of additional measures by the security services and the Ministry of Interior. Providing additional capacity, manpower and taking all necessary measures, taking into account the various incidents that have occurred in other European countries, were among the priorities discussed at the meeting. It is obvious that the authorities have taken into account not only the direct impact of the sanctions, but also the possible risks to security.

"There is no reason for panic, but a reason to increase attention, to update the risk assessment and to take adequate action by the services that are responsible for this. This was reported to the Prime Minister by colleagues, and the current situation is being monitored", the minister stressed. His words reflect the government's position that the situation is under control and that all necessary measures are being taken to protect the interests of citizens and the state. The tension is palpable, but at the same time, the determination of the authorities to deal with the challenges is felt.
