Today, at the Council of Ministers, the signing of an important Memorandum for cooperation and interaction between key state-owned enterprises is expected. The press center of the Ministry of Transport and Communications announced that the National Railway Infrastructure Company ("NRIC"), "Electricity System Operator" EAD (ESO EAD) and "ESO Charge" EAD will sign a joint document.
The signing of this memorandum opens the door for the realization of an ambitious project: the construction of a new network of publicly accessible electric charging stations. These stations will be strategically located on the territory of railway stations throughout the country, which will likely facilitate travelers and encourage the use of electric vehicles.
The document is expected to be signed by the General Director of NRIC Alexander Vetskov, the Executive Director of ESO EAD Angelin Tsachev and the Executive Director of "ESO Charge" EAD Valeri Ruzhin. The ceremony will be held in the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications Grozdan Karadjov and the Minister of Energy Zhecho Stankov, which underlines the significance of the initiative.
The ceremony will begin at 09:00 in the Granite Hall of the Council of Ministers. Many media representatives are expected to cover the event.
In another development, the National Railway Infrastructure Company "NRIC" announced the provision of free wireless internet in seven large railway stations in the country. Passengers already have the opportunity to take advantage of Wi-Fi connection at the stations in Sofia, Plovdiv, Stara Zagora, Burgas, Gorna Oryahovitsa, Ruse and Varna, which is part of the efforts to modernize the railway infrastructure and improve passenger comfort.
