The National Strategy for Road Safety Improvement has entered an active phase, with API experts consistently implementing large-scale infrastructure improvements. This five-year plan covers numerous critical routes in various regions of the country, with an emphasis on preventive measures and road infrastructure modernization.

In the regions of Veliko Tarnovo, Vratsa, and Stara Zagora, key interventions were finalized on the most high-risk road sections. Specifically in the Maslarevo area, a 100-meter section of first-class road I-3 was renovated, where new asphalt surfaces were laid and precise road markings with speed limit indication were introduced.

Particularly significant improvements were made on the Stara Zagora - Kazanlak route, where the five-kilometer section underwent comprehensive rehabilitation. API experts focused on three critical 100-meter sections that were fundamentally reconstructed to enhance road safety.

In Vratsa, large-scale technical solutions were undertaken on the bypass road, including asphalt surface replacement, introduction of rumble strips, and road sign updates. These interventions are part of a broader plan for preventing traffic incidents.

In the short term, infrastructure improvements are planned in the Plovdiv region. Specific measures include installing flexible barriers on the Kalekovets - Plovdiv section and introducing new road markings around the ring road.

According to official API data, the initial plan of 36 sections is just the beginning of a large-scale national program. The agency has already identified an additional 145 risky routes that will be made safer by the end of 2026. These activities are part of the Operational Action Plan for Traffic Safety, adopted by Council of Ministers Decision #296 of May 9, 2025.

Full information on the planned interventions is publicly available on the official API website, in a specialized section "High-Risk Road Sections". The total length of planned improvements amounts to approximately 500 kilometers, representing a significant investment commitment to national road safety.
