In the midst of the summer season in July 2025, IOM launched a large-scale humanitarian operation aimed at supporting Ukrainian refugees in the Burgas region. The organization undertook a targeted strategy for distributing food vouchers among approximately 15,000 people with temporary protection status.

IOM experts identified the Burgas district as a critical intervention center, considering the high concentration of displaced persons from Ukraine. The voucher system was developed with the specific goal of ensuring access to basic food products and supporting the daily sustenance of refugees.

The initiative represents part of a larger humanitarian project whose main objective is to provide sustainable support for people forced to leave their homeland due to the military conflict. Through direct financial assistance, IOM aims to alleviate the social and economic burden on displaced Ukrainian citizens.
