Interior Minister Daniel Mitov issued an official warning regarding the danger of currency crimes during the financial transition to the euro. In a rapidly distributed statement through social networks, he emphasized the critical need for increased vigilance among Bulgarian citizens.

A key point in his statement was the successful operation of the "Economic Police" at the Sofia Directorate of Internal Affairs. Employees detained three suspects in the "Ovcha Kupel" neighborhood who were distributing extremely precise counterfeit euro banknotes worth 10,000 leva.

The special aspect of this case is the extremely high quality of the counterfeits – the 200 euro banknotes are so perfect that they would deceive even experienced banking specialists. According to Mitov, this is the first such discovery on the territory of Bulgaria, although similar cases are known in other European countries.

The Ministry of Interior suspects that the counterfeit money was produced outside the country, which makes the case extremely interesting for international law enforcement services. The minister firmly stated that the introduction of the euro is a strategic process that will not be compromised by criminal groups.

Daniel Mitov's main message is clear – citizens must be extremely cautious and carry out monetary operations only in officially licensed financial institutions.
