The summer months are emerging as a critical period for home invasions, according to expert assessment from representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The criminal contingent is changing its traditional routes, moving from large urban centers to popular seaside resorts.
In an exclusive interview with the Bulgarian National Radio, Chief Inspector Rosen Belishki presented a detailed statistical picture of crime. In the first six months of 2025, a total of 1,522 home burglaries were registered, which represents a significant decrease compared to 1,835 cases during the same period of the previous year.
Specialists from law enforcement agencies are making an extremely important appeal to citizens - to be extremely cautious and not to publicly disclose information about valuables and property stored in their homes. This approach can reduce the potential risk of criminal offenses.
Belishki emphasized that the observed trend of decreasing home burglaries is not random. According to him, the targeted work of police officers over the past decade has played a key role in prevention and limitation of this type of crime.
The expert shared that a significant portion of criminally active individuals specialized in home burglaries have been repeatedly detained. This fact serves as an additional deterrent factor for potential offenders.
Statistical data unambiguously show a positive trend in the fight against home burglaries. The reduction of 313 cases compared to the previous year is convincing evidence of the effectiveness of the applied preventive measures.
The National Police continues to appeal for civic vigilance. The main message is that everyone can contribute to their own security through elementary precautionary measures and increased attention, especially during the summer tourist season.
The interview with Chief Inspector Rosen Belishki provides a comprehensive view of current challenges and successes in home burglary prevention, while simultaneously encouraging public awareness and responsibility.
