Varna Airport will receive several pre-planned landings of "C-17 Globemaster" transport aircraft between April 14 and 17, the Ministry of Defense announced.

The flights are related to the execution of routine technical maintenance and refueling of the aircraft.

The overflight through Bulgarian airspace and the use of airport infrastructure are carried out in full compliance with the current national legislation. The procedures are pre-agreed with the competent authorities and do not affect the regular flight schedule of the civilian airport, but are part of this schedule.

The flights are carried out on the basis of reciprocal permanent (block) diplomatic permission, provided by our country under the current legislation. The Ministry of Defense is not the institution that provides permanent (block) diplomatic permits. Permanent (block) permits are also issued for aircraft of other countries, explain from our military ministry.

On February 19, the Ministry of Defense announced that US Air Force planes were stationed at "Vasil Levski" Airport in Sofia in support of training related to the Alliance's enhanced vigilance activities.
