Burgas Airport will increase the number of flights next year and will improve its year-round connectivity through a new Flight Incentive Program. This was announced by the concessionaire of the airport, "Fraport Twin Star Airport Management“ AD. The concept of the strategic plan was presented today during a working meeting between the management of Burgas Airport, representatives of the municipalities of Burgas and Pomorie, the Regional Administration - Burgas, and the Association of Incoming Agencies in Bulgaria.

The program will aim to attract more flights and ensure sustainable development of the region's air connectivity, despite the decision of a Bulgarian company to cease its flights from Germany to Burgas. During the meeting, progress on the rehabilitation of the runway at Burgas Airport and the coordination between institutions, the tourism sector, and the concessionaire for a successful summer season next year were also discussed.

BTA recalls that the repair of the airport runway began in November. The investment, worth over 50 million euros (about 100 million leva), is being implemented by the concessionaire "Fraport Twin Star Airport Management" AD and is part of the company's long-term strategy for sustainable development and compliance with international safety and security standards. The runway at Burgas Airport dates back to 1962, having been repaired only once in the 1980s. Activities are expected to be completed by May 1st next year.

A few days after the start of the repair, Burgas Airport announced that in the summer of 2026, the British airline "Jet2.com" will begin flights between London Gatwick and Burgas from May 2nd next year. Burgas will be accessible from a total of 11 British bases of the airline.
