The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi issued a sharp warning about the growing risks around the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. The organization's experts reported a critical development of the situation, directly related to a threat to nuclear safety.

According to official information, around 9:00 AM the IAEA team registered intensive military activity in the immediate vicinity of the strategic energy facility. A little later, they received confirmation of a drone strike that affected an auxiliary area of the plant, located 1200 meters from the main perimeter.

The observers directly confirmed the scale of the incident, noting characteristic smoke from the attack area. Grossi emphasized the exceptional anxiety of the situation, describing it as another serious challenge to nuclear security.

The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, currently occupied by Russian forces, remains in an extremely risky zone. Since March 2022, the facility has been operating under uncertain circumstances, with the IAEA repeatedly insisting on creating an international protective zone, without achieving any concrete progress so far.

"The occupied facility continues to be exposed to danger without any security guarantees," the agency's head is categorical. He insists on urgently reaching a sustainable agreement that would guarantee the safety of the largest nuclear power plant in Europe.
