An intense battle with the natural elements erupted yesterday in the area around Kardzhali, when a suddenly broke out forest fire threatened several populated areas. The local fire service teams immediately took extensive actions to localize and limit the spread of the fire.
Strong winds further complicated the situation, creating extremely risky conditions for rapid flame spread. Specialized fire response units mobilized six teams, composed of forestry service employees and municipal administration staff in Kardzhali.
The rescue teams' strategy included using chain machines that cleared protective firebreaks to limit the fire's perimeter. The main goal was to prevent the flames from reaching the nearby villages of Ridovo and Snezhinka, which were under direct threat.
The local municipal administration introduced emergency measures and was prepared to provide immediate evacuation housing for the local population if necessary. The all-night operation required exceptional concentration and professionalism from the rescue teams.
According to initial data, the critical point was the area near the Kardzhali dam, where there was a real risk of fire expansion. Thanks to the quick and coordinated actions of the fire services, the threat was contained, and potential human and material losses were prevented.
The prolonged and exhausting night operation demonstrated the high readiness and professionalism of local rescue services in dealing with such extreme natural challenges.
