Nesebar Municipality and the Department of Transfusion Hematology at University Hospital Burgas are organizing a joint blood donation campaign, which will take place on January 22nd (Thursday) from 9:00 am at the Health House - Nesebar.
The initiative is part of efforts to provide vital blood products for medical facilities in the region and is aimed at promoting voluntary and unpaid blood donation. The campaign's motto is: "Every time you donate blood, you give life!"
Anyone in good health between the ages of 18 and 65 can be a blood donor. To ensure the safety of both donors and recipients, participants must meet certain requirements. It is recommended to eat regularly and fully 2-3 days before the blood donation, and on the day of the campaign to be well-fed and hydrated, consuming at least 2 liters of fluids. Blood donation on an empty stomach is not allowed.
Individuals with recent surgeries, tattoos or piercings, as well as people taking medications, with the exception of diabetics who are not on insulin, cannot donate.
The blood donation procedure includes filling out a questionnaire, a medical examination, a preliminary blood group test, and the blood collection itself. Its total duration is up to 40 minutes.
