The Mayor of Nesebar Municipality, Nikolay Dimitrov, participated in the first meeting of the Regional Coordination Center for a smooth, transparent and secure transition to the euro, created according to the instructions of the Council of Ministers.

The center includes the mayors of all municipalities in Burgas region, representatives of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior, the National Revenue Agency, the Consumer Protection Commission, the Customs Agency and the Regional Food Safety Directorate. The purpose of the structure is to support the implementation of the national policy for the smooth and effective introduction of the new currency. The center will meet weekly.

“Nesebar Municipality is an active partner and works in full synchronicity with state institutions to ensure security, transparency and protection of citizens when introducing the euro. It is extremely important not to lose trust in the process, especially at its beginning. Citizens must be well informed and confident in the strict control and care of municipal and state institutions for the correct, smooth and conflict-free transition to the new pan-European currency unit,” commented Mayor Nikolay Dimitrov.

During the meeting, it was reported that the joint inspections of the NRA, CPC and the Commission for the Protection of Competition (CPC) continue, with strict monitoring of pricing and compliance with regulatory requirements. Nesebar Municipality supports the preventive nature of the inspections and emphasizes the role of traders as a key partner in the process.

The municipality will continue to actively participate in the coordination between institutions, assisting in the timely informing of citizens and providing support to the control bodies for any reports of irregularities. The local authorities are working in close cooperation with the responsible state structures to ensure the protection of the public interest and the stability of the local economy in the process of transition to the euro.
