The American technology company Intuitive officially entered the Bulgarian market by investing in a first-of-its-kind production complex in Primorav. The new facility represents a strategic step to expand the company's European production capacities, specialized in minimally invasive medical technologies.
The production center covers an impressive 17,000 square meters and has the capacity to host over 300 employees. Its main goal is to produce high-tech 3D endoscopes that will be integrated into da Vinci surgical systems used in medical facilities worldwide.
During the official opening, the Deputy Minister of Innovation and Growth Krasimir Yakimov emphasized the exceptional importance of the investment. "This project demonstrates that leading global companies choose Bulgaria as a destination for modern production," he stated, highlighting the potential for technological development in the healthcare sector.
Yakimov also pointed out the incentives introduced in the Investment Promotion Act. Administrative procedures have been halved, and self-participation requirements have been reduced, making the investment climate more attractive for foreign companies.
The Ministry of Innovation and Growth has already supported local companies in Primorav with nearly 3.6 million leva through the Recovery Plan and the "Competitiveness and Innovation in Enterprises" Program.
Harald Haigis, Intuitive's Vice President for Europe, noted the strategic advantages of Bulgaria: "Our reputation in medical innovations and optical production, combined with the geographical location, makes the country an ideal choice for our new base".
Stoyan Stoyanov, senior director at the company, added that the high qualification of the workforce and modern infrastructure in the Plovdiv region are key factors in choosing the location.
Intuitive's new production center appears to be a significant step in Bulgaria's technological development and further confirmation of the country as an attractive destination for high-tech investments.
