Main Directorate "Border Police" reported significant traffic intensity when entering passenger cars at the Kalotina Border Checkpoint around 6:00 AM. Official data indicate complicated throughput due to ongoing construction activities.
Due to the major repair of the Bulgarian section of the Danube Bridge near Ruse, a temporary traffic organization has been introduced. Passage is carried out only in one traffic lane, with traffic directly regulated by employees of the executing construction company.
Border Police experts informed that traffic remains within normal parameters at other border crossings. A special regime has been introduced at border checkpoints with the Republic of North Macedonia, where a complete reconstruction is being carried out at the Stanke Lisichkovo Border Checkpoint.
At the border with Turkey, movement is calm and without difficulties. At border points with Greece - Makaza, Zlatograd, and Ivaylovgrad, partial restrictions have been introduced. Passage is only allowed for passenger cars and minibuses with a payload capacity up to 3.5 tons.
Greek authorities have secured the section along the Rudozem-Xanthi route by placing warning signs for ongoing construction activities. Access to the construction site is strictly prohibited for unauthorized persons.
