The data on immunizations performed on Bulgarian citizens has now been integrated into electronic health records, the press center of the Ministry of Health announced. This represents significant progress in the digitalization of health data, which aims to improve access to information and facilitate the tracking of the health status of the population.
The Ministry of Health expressed gratitude to the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) for the provided data and to "Information Services" AD for the technical processing and transfer of the information, it is stated in an official announcement. This gesture underlines the importance of cooperation between different institutions in achieving such a significant result.
Over 19 million records for administered vaccines have been processed and integrated, covering the period from 2005 to the present. All mandatory immunizations and re-immunizations are included, as well as the recommended vaccines registered in the NHIF system. This comprehensive integration provides a complete overview of the citizens' immunization history.
Thanks to this initiative, the electronic health records of over 4 million citizens have already been enriched with information on the immunizations performed. This provides people with a more detailed view of their health, as well as the opportunity for more effective management of health care. In addition, parents of children under 18 have automatic access to their children's health records through the National Health Information System (NHIS) and the mobile application "eHealth", the health ministry reminds. This facilitates parental control and provides timely access to information needed for the health of children.
Due to changes in the nomenclatures for registering vaccines over the last 20 years, numerous checks have been carried out during the transfer. These checks are aimed at minimizing errors and duplicate records. This step emphasizes the efforts to ensure accurate and reliable information.
In September, "Information Services" announced that the mobile application "eHealth" has over 200,000 active users who have access to all their data from the NHIS. This year alone, over 110,000 people have linked their health record to the application. This number reflects the growing trust in digital health tools and their role in improving health care.
