First mandate to form a cabinet
Vice President Iliana Iotova announced that the first exploratory mandate to form a government will be handed over on May 7 at 5:00 PM. The decision comes after constructive consultations were held with representatives of the parliamentary groups in the 52nd National Assembly.
"The consultations were very substantial. The parties came with ready-made legislative programs, which gives hope that the parliament will start working at full speed," Iotova stated.
Key priorities for the 52nd National Assembly
During the meetings, several main areas of broad agreement were outlined:
- Budgetary policy: The priority is the adoption of a six-month budget to control inflation and support the most vulnerable without the need for tax increases.
- Judicial reform: The first and most important step is replacing the Supreme Judicial Council through a transparent and clear procedure for electing new members.
- Recovery Plan: There is a general consensus that the country must do everything possible to utilize the payments under the Recovery and Resilience Plan, which is a guarantee for budget stability.
Iotova expressed hope that the accumulated viewpoints would turn into a fruitful political dialogue that will normalize relations both within the institution and between the individual branches of power in the state.
