The Fifty-second National Assembly will be convened on Thursday - April 30, at 10:00 AM. This was stated to journalists by President Iliana Yotova.
Yotova pointed out that she will first tell the newly elected national representatives her expectations of them. "I will hear what their promises and first steps will be, I will stay throughout the whole time," she said regarding the first meeting of the new National Assembly.
"I am convinced that we will see a new, completely different parliament. The most important thing is to change the style and way of working in this parliament," the president said and pointed out that it is important to have respect between the national representatives and towards all citizens. "I expect very bold and quick decisions," Yotova added.
When asked if she expects the new government to open the Constitution in the part related to caretaker governments, Yotova said: "It would be too selfish. I know how important it is for the institution I represent. But there are also more important first tasks, they are related above all to the adoption of the budget for this year." She explained that although for half a year, the budget for 2026 is extremely important because the state is "facing a blockage".
The President said that before a regular government is formed, consultations should be held with the parliamentary groups.
The consultations will be held immediately after the constitution of the parliament and will only be adjusted to the holidays, Yotova said.
