Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov, Minister of Interior Daniel Mitov, and Chief Commissioner Anton Zlatanov, Director of the Main Directorate" Border Police", today personally observed a large-scale exercise of the border authorities near Sozopol.
The exercise, reported by BTA, involved four ships and over 70 officers of the directorate. The atmosphere was filled with tension and concentration, as the high-ranking representatives of the state authority closely monitored the progress of the actions.
Exercise in Bulgarian territorial waters
The exercise, conducted in Bulgarian territorial waters, simulated a crisis situation in a maritime environment, aiming to demonstrate the effective interaction between the sea, air, and coastal forces of the Border Police. The scenario involves receiving information about the expected incursion into Bulgarian territorial waters of the ship" Magellan", with hull number 516. This immediately activates enhanced monitoring within the" blue border" component, and the on-duty forces are brought to full combat readiness.
After the ship fails to respond to repeated signals and calls, a decision is made to immediately deploy additional forces" two ships with hull numbers 525 and 524. The tension escalates with each passing minute, and the precise actions of the border guards demonstrate a high degree of professionalism and readiness to respond to crisis situations.
The operation also includes the support of a helicopter, as well as the" Alpha" unmanned aerial system, providing real-time monitoring of the ship"s movement. According to the scenario, packages containing suspected narcotics were thrown overboard from" Magellan". As a result of the quick and efficient response of the border authorities, the vessel and its crew were detained.
The successful conduct of the exercise underlines the readiness of the Bulgarian border authorities to cope with potential threats to the country_q_s security at sea, demonstrating a strong and effective defense strategy.
