The fire near Sliven has been contained, traffic on the Sub-Balkan road has been restored
A serious fire caused chaos on the Sofia-Burgas Sub-Balkan road in the area of the village of Zlati Voyvoda near Sliven. The fire, which started from dry grass and bushes, spread rapidly due to the strong wind.
The report of the blaze was received shortly before noon, and the flames engulfed the lands of the villages of Seliminovo and Gavrailovo.
Response of the teams and safety measures
- 6 teams from Sliven, Tvarditsa, and Nova Zagora were involved in the firefighting efforts.
- Due to heavy smoke, visibility was limited, which necessitated a temporary diversion of traffic.
- At the moment, the fire has been localized and there is no danger to populated areas.
Although traffic has been restored, the Traffic Police warn that in the event of changing weather conditions and smoke, traffic may once again be redirected along alternative routes.
Affected railway transport
The incident also affected railway infrastructure – the contact network between Seliminovo and Gavrailovo stations was temporarily interrupted, but the train schedule is expected to return to normal shortly.
