The General Labor Inspectorate (GIT) reported 1043 violations of labor law after conducting 160 inspections in the first quarter of 2026. 33 administrative violation reports were issued, and 10 production sites, sections, machines, and equipment were shut down. Two people were removed due to lack of competence and failure to comply with safety regulations.
The inspections included representatives of trade union organizations. A company for the production of glass products was checked due to work with carcinogens and mutagens. The inspection was attended by the Executive Director of the GIT Agency, Eng. Ekaterina Asenova, and representatives of the KNSB and KT "Podkrepa" trade unions.
The GIT's campaign on hazardous chemicals will continue throughout 2026. Emphasis is placed on the new requirements for the production and storage of hazardous chemicals, after 61 non-traumatic accidents were reported in the previous year, of which 58 were fatal.
In 2025, GIT signed a Cooperation Agreement with nationally representative organizations of workers and employees. Over 90% of labor accidents are the result of the human factor, which emphasizes the importance of complying with safety and health regulations at work, as well as effective employer control.
