In an official ceremony held in Sofia, a significant change was made in the leadership of the Bulgarian Athletics Federation (BFLA). The leading role during the two-hour meeting was entrusted to Dobromir Karamarinov - President of European Athletics.
The representative assembly definitively confirmed the new management board, which included three new members: Dr. Valentin Dimitrov - director of Pirogov Hospital, businessman Borislav Trifonov, and Grigor Gutev - head of the Athletics Department at NSA.
Out of a total of 126 clubs members of the federation, 121 confirmed their presence, with 44 represented through official proxies. The delegates voted with an overwhelming majority of 73 votes "in favor" of the new management board.
Among the key decisions of the General Assembly was delegating powers to the management board to explore the possibilities of joining the Association of Bulgarian Sports Federations.
Immediately after the conclusion of the official part, the management board held its first meeting, where according to the statute, it had to elect a president. Georgi Pavlov was unanimously approved, who took office for a five-year term.
Pavlov, who is currently a marketing director and board member of the Association of Balkan Athletics Federations, officially succeeded Ivan Kolev. The latter was elected on October 11, 2023, to complete the previous mandate of Dobromir Karamarinov.
