Technology Against Violations: Greece Transforms Beach Oversight
Greek authorities have taken decisive measures to guarantee free access to the coastline. By using drones and modern technological tools, the state is monitoring in real-time whether beach concessionaires are complying with the law.
Since the beginning of the season, over 1,500 inspections have been carried out on more than 300 beaches and 450 companies in coastal zones.
How does the system work?
- MyCoast mobile application: Citizens can directly report blocked access or illegal occupation of the beach area.
- High-tech surveillance: Drones allow for the immediate recording of violations, which facilitates the work of inspectors.
- Results: Data shows that this season, violations by beach establishments are significantly lower compared to previous years.
The initiative is part of the Ministry of Economy and Finance's efforts to protect the rights of citizens and ensure calm and free access to the sea for all tourists.
