Emergency inspection near Sozopol

Teams from RIEW – Burgas and the Black Sea Basin Directorate carried out an emergency inspection following a report of a pipe protruding above the water surface about 500 meters from the shore near Sozopol.

The report was received from the Border Police, citing concerns about a potential unauthorized discharge of wastewater.

What did the experts find?

After comparing the coordinates, it was determined that the facility is part of the deep-sea discharge of the Sozopol WWTP (Wastewater Treatment Plant). The facility is part of the general "Sozopol – Chernomorets – Ravadinovo" sewerage system and holds a permit for its operation.

RIEW promises full transparency and additional information for the public as soon as the laboratory test results are released.
