Leading European scientists from the University of Copenhagen presented revolutionary results that overturn the understanding of overweight prevention. The large-scale study, published in the prestigious medical journal The Lancet Child & Adolescent Health, covers a sample of 9,842 participants from eight countries, tracked over 15 years.
The scientific data clearly show that children practicing organized sports activities for at least 5 hours weekly reduce the risk of obesity by more than 50% in adulthood. The study focused attention on key physical activities such as swimming, track and field, and football, which have a lasting positive impact on metabolic processes.
Prof. Marianne Frisch, the lead expert in the study, emphasizes the critical role of sports culture: "Prevention of overweight is not a matter of diets, but of systematic physical education from the earliest age". The results demonstrate significant differences among participants - lower body mass index, reduced body fat percentage, and optimal blood pressure values.
Experts recommend that children and adolescents practice at least 60 minutes of moderate to intense physical activity daily. The study conclusively proves that investment in physical education in childhood is a key factor for future metabolic health.
