The Minister of Transport Matteo Salvini announced a revolutionary infrastructure solution that will change the transport connectivity of Southern Italy. After decades of delays and debates, the government officially sanctioned an extremely ambitious project to build a bridge across the Messina Strait.
The strategic facility, 3.7 kilometers long, will represent the longest suspension bridge in the world. The project, with an estimated cost of 13.5 billion euros, is expected to start next year with a planned completion horizon by 2032.
