More than 40 buildings in Pomorie have already been energy-renovated. This became clear during an information event for the European Urban Initiative (EUI) and URBACT, which launched the Annual Meeting of Local Authorities in Albena. Georgi Petkov, a representative of Pomorie Municipality, shared the achieved results with those present. The organizer of the event was the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria.

Petkov emphasized the efforts that the municipality is making in the fight against energy poverty, and outlined future development plans in this direction. "In addition to renovating buildings, the street lighting in the city has been completely renovated," he emphasized. A project to provide geothermal energy in a kindergarten has also been implemented.

Judging by Petkov's words, Pomorie Municipality is actively participating in an international project, which provides an opportunity to exchange experience with European partners. According to him, valuable knowledge can be gained from the municipalities in Belgium, Greece and Portugal, where energy communities are already functioning. "In addition, a database on the topic of energy poverty is being collected there, which allows analyses to be made and the necessary measures to be taken to overcome the problems," the expert pointed out. He added that work continues in Pomorie on renovating buildings, as well as on creating an energy community on the territory of the city. The general atmosphere of the meeting in Albena testified to an increased interest in the issues of energy efficiency and sustainable development. The participants actively discussed the achievements and prospects of local authorities in this key area.
